Newborns hold a special place in my heart. They grow up too fast and they change so quickly. As a new mom we often times feel like we miss so much when they first arrive because we are now adjusting to the lack of sleep, feedings and learning to care for these tiny blessings that have entered our worlds. But we wouldn't change it for a second.

My ultimate goal at any newborn session is to capture all the sweet details of your baby but also create images that you can hold onto for a lifetime.

Every session is tailored to your color preferences, vision and/or nursery theme. I want you to be able to display these images in your house and have them look like they belong on your walls. Safety is my number one concern with newborn sessions. I have taken classes and been trained on how to pose and position your new sweet bundle in a manner that keeps them safe at all times. There are so many poses you can see below in my portfolio that are put together in editing so baby is never in any harm or bearing all their weight on their arms or hands. Their heads need constant support as well so sometimes I will ask mom or dad to hold baby's head in position for a pose so they do not fall over. If at any point ever during a session you are concerned or questioning a pose please ask and I will gladly explain what I am doing and how I will edit it in the end so your hands are not in the final image.

What to expect at your newborn session...
When I arrive at your home for your newborn session you may start to wonder if I'm planning to move in! I promise I am not, in fact newborn sessions require a lot of set up items and blankets. I will be turning your living room or nursery into my own personal studio for just a few hours but I will also ensure that I clean up everything I move to make the magic happen. You can expect your posed newborn session to last approx 2-4 hours so don't plan to be somewhere soon after our appointment time. The length of time it takes is dependent on how quickly I can get your little one to fall asleep and be "posable" to create those sleeping baby photos you see above. However if baby is wide awake and content I will capture those moments as well.

About the time I arrive I ask parents to have baby undressed down to a diaper and loosely wrapped in a blanket so we do not disturb them or wake them back up to undress them once the session begins. I also ask mom to start feeding the baby when I arrive and start setting up so baby is full and drifts off to sleep more quickly. To begin the session once I have everything set up we will go into parent posing and family posing. It is always best to get those out of the way first so dad can then take any siblings out to entertain them while we work with just the baby for the remainder of the session. I also bring a small space heater with me to keep baby warm since they are typically naked during photos and by the end of the session we don't want mom and dad to be a sticky sweaty mess. Once parent and family posing is complete it is then time for mom and dad to sit back and enjoy the session.
